They need copy editors to keep them from making mistakes like this one.
Check out the spelling of “Mississippi” on this University of Alabama football ticket:
Ouch.
Alexis Stephens of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday:
Somehow, the word “Mississippi” is misspelled on football tickets printed by the University of Alabama for the team’s Nov. 13 game vs. Mississippi State.
It’s missing a “p,” or a humpback, if you’re keeping track.
It’s a witty report, ending thusly:
Maybe college football fans will cut the Crimson Tide some slack for the spelling error. The team is, after all, a national champion.
Or is that “chamion?”
Editor’s Note: This story was spellchecked five times.
You know who else needs copy editors? Road paving contractors. And restaurants. And cake decorators. And baseball jersey manufacturers. And T-shirt designers. And Time magazine.

That would make Bama the reigning National Chumpions.
I worked for the UA athletic department as a graphic designer and there were a number of times I was happy to have a copy editing background to prevent things like this from happening.
Oh my alma mater. *headdesk*
There have been times when, as an Ohio State fan, I wish “Michigan” was consistently misspelled with a T just before the G. Never mind how Woody used to mispronounce the word.
Thank you, I’ll be here all week.
Are you sure this was not intentional. ‘Bama sure hates Mississippi (or Mississipi)
