They need a copy editor to keep them from making a mistake like this one:
Ouch!
That’s in South Bend, Ind., where a billboard campaign was set up to tout local public schools. The typo was spotted Saturday, according to WANE-TV in Fort Wayne.
Thanks to Chris Thomas and David Kordalski for the tip.
You know who else needs copy editors? Rubber stamp designers. And restaurants. And the New York Jets. And the Washington Post and the New York Times. And the St. Louis Cardinals. And drive-in movie theater managers. And Home Depot and manufacturers of “hoodies.” And CNN. And college athletic department ticket offices. And road paving contractors. And breakfast joints. And cake decorators. And Time magazine. And sign painters. And T-shirt designers. And baseball jersey manufacturers.

We’ve made the pubic-public slip more than a handful of times. Spell check doesn’t catch that one.

Oh, what copy editor hasn’t slipped a pube or two on to the page.
