Because I’m here in Johannesburg, South Africa, this month teaching news design for a large group of newspapers, I’m somewhat reluctant to make fun of anything I see in a rival newspaper.
But a number of folks have already seen this today and laughed at the poor juxtaposition of this huge headline and the (completely unrelated) wild art:
That’s the Times of Johannesburg, a free-distribution tab (despite what it says in the nameplate).
Yes, the A1 designer set the photo into a box to make sure it’s separate from that (admittedly, horrific) lead story.
But still. This might be a day to take that art inside and find another photo — one that didn’t involve children or pedophiles — for page one.
