Gannett’s Asbury Park design hub names its creative director

Gannett’s Asbury Park design studio — led by director Tim Frank – has reportedly named Bethany White the creative director of his new operation.

From an official announcement made March 2 and relayed to us tonight:

Bethany is the Custom Content Director at the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, where she has worked for the past six years. She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Memphis in 1996, where she majored in journalism and philosophy, and her graduate degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 2001. She started her journalism career in 1998 at The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La., where she was a features designer before becoming design editor. In 2005, she moved north to The Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester, N.Y.

At the Democrat and Chronicle, Bethany guides the design of three magazines, two entertainment weeklies, the daily features section and various vendor sections. She has overseen section redesigns and led web reduction transitions, and is editor of NY Nurses Network and the Democrat and Chronicle Sunday Travel page. She is especially interested in typography and photojournalism, and is passionate about the future of visual journalism in all formats.

In addition, this announcement, um, announced:

At the same time, I’m pleased to announce that Andy Prendimano has been appointed the New Jersey Design Team Leader in the Design Studio.

Andy started his career with the Asbury Park Press in 1978, joining the newspaper as an illustrator and graphic artist. He has, in his 32 years, served as staff artist, chief artist, art director, art and photo director, regional art & design editor, and most recently, regional multimedia editor.

He has won numerous state, regional, national and international awards for his illustrations, page designs, graphics and art direction.

Find Andy’s personal website here (Beware, though of the auto-playing music on his “about the illustrator” page).
