Folks who etch words on glass for a living need a copy editor to keep them from making a mistake like this one, found on at the brand-new Veterans Park, which opened Monday in downtown Fayetteville, N.C.
That’s supposed to be the preamble to the Constitution. Except the bit about securing “the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” came out…
Oops.
That ran on page one of today’s Fayetteville Observer.
The Observer‘s Andrew Barksdale writes:
City officials said they discovered the mistake Wednesday after someone called them and wrote about it on The Fayetteville Observer‘s website.
The city has ordered a replacement. The city manager says they’ll stick the guilty party with the bill. As soon as they figure out who that is.
