Investment News — a Crain Communications niche weekly based in New York and geared toward financial advisors — needs a copy editor to make sure its headlines match its stories. And the facts.
Here is a story posted today — in fact, this screencap was taken a short while ago.
The headline seems straightforward enough.
But the actual spot where the body was found is mentioned right there in the first sentence.
Not the same thing.
Ontario, after all, is both a lake and a province. Lake Joseph is a good 100 miles or so northwest of Lake Ontario and a good 10 or 12 miles east of the Georgian Bay section of Lake Huron.
Thanks to Ellen Comisar — a former copy editor for the Chicago Sun-Times and the New York Times and currently a communications specialist in the financial sector and based in Rochester, N.Y. — for tweeting this to my attention today.
