An ode to Hurricane Irene from the Raleigh, N.C., News & Observer

Here’s a wonderful little presentation about Hurricane Irene, performed by News & Observer staffers to accompany a wonderful slideshow by — who else? — News & Observer staffers.

News & Observer design director Teresa Kriegsman tells us:

The singer (Stacy Chandler) is a staffer, the guitarist (Thomas Goldsmith) is a staffer and the guy who did the video is a staffer.

In addition, the lyrics are by staffer Andrew Roman, “with apologies to Dolly Parton.”

Sadly, the video isn’t embeddable. But it’s certainly worth a click and a listen. Find it here.

And please feel free to pass that link along. This deserves to go viral.

  • Why Charles Apple needs copy editors – “An ode to Hurrican Irene from the Raleigh, N.C., News & Observer” – What’s a Hurrican? More like Hurrican’t spell. :)

  • Yeah, well. I have no internet access at Sharon’s parents’ house. Had to go to extreme lengths to post that last night. And I couldn’t figure out how to get it fixed via my iPhone.

Please tell me you at least watched the video.

  • Nope. Busy working and pointing out your spelling flaws.
