John Corbitt is a longtime newspaper and magazine illustrator based in Seminole, Fla. He left newspapers in 1999 to open up DuetStudio with his wife, Elaine, a photographer. Alex Fong is deputy design director of the San Jose Mercury News. A 2004 graduate of the University of California at San Diego — where he was a varsity epee and foil fencer — Alex then attended the city college of San Francisco to study music and journalism. He joined the Mercury News in 2006 as a news designer, moved to the Las Vegas Sun the following year and then returned to the Merc in 2010. Find his portfolio here.
Brad Robertson is president of GannettLocal in Phoenix, Ariz., which offers marketing assistance to small and midsize companies. A 1994 graduate of Northern Illinois University, Brad spent several years in circulation before moving to advertising at the Detroit newspapers in 2001. He became vice-president of business development of the Des Moines Register in 2003 and was promoted to vice-president of advertising two years later. In 2007, Brad became president and publisher of Vermont’s Burlington Free Press. He moved to GannettLocal in 2010.
Timothy Wong is design editor of the Washington Business Journal in Arlington, Va. A 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland, Tim interned with the Baltimore Sun, USA Today and the Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk, Va. In April 2008, Timothy became art director of b, the free youth-oriented tabloid published by the Baltimore Sun. He moved to the biz news world last summer. Cody Bailey is assistant managing editor for innovation and product development at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. A 2007 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, Cody has worked at the Star-Telegram for 16 years as a sports editor at various levels, serving as senior deputy sports editor from 2001 to 2007, when he was promoted to his current position. John C. Camejo is an art teacher via his firm Stickman/ARTWORKS in Richmond, Va. A 1977 graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York, John spent five years with a publication called Insight and then five more as a features designer and illustrator for the Baltimore Sun. He moved to the Express-News of San Antonio in 1995 as features design editor and illustrator and then again to the Richmond Times-Dispatch in 2000. He served as features art director and then presentation editor. He created his teaching consultancy in 2005 and departed the Times-Dispatch in 2008.
