Screencapped from last night’s BCS Championship Game on ESPN:
Let’s take a closer look at that halftime score:
No, I don’t think so, ESPN. I believe it was Alabama that had the nine points. Not LSU. In fact, I believe LSU was held scoreless the entire game.
That screencap was posted today by Deadspin. Thanks to Dan Murphy — features designer and beer writer for the Press-Register in Mobile, Ala. — for the tip.
ESPN really, really needs a copy editor.

UPDATE – 3:40 p.m.
It’s an epidemic! That’s what it is!
Moments ago, David Downham of Gannett’s design studio in Nashville sends us yet another egregious ESPN error.
David writes:
I feel with the amount of play Tim Tebow gets on ESPN, they’d know who he is.
Man, oh man. Is it time, yet, to stage an intervention?

Let’s take another quick recap of the past two months…
Nov. 19: Incorrect Big 10 team logos used on two different online game stories.
Nov. 22: Uses a graphic of the state of Minnesota instead of Wisconsin.
Dec. 26: Misspells “Shreveport.”
Jan. 3: Says, on the air, that West Virginia is in Virginia.
Jan. 4: Misspells “probable.”
Jan. 4: Misspells “bowl” on the web site.
Jan. 5: It was West Virginia that beat Clemson in the Orange Bowl, not Michigan.
Don’t get me wrong. I love ESPN. But I also love it when my media has some credibility.
Please buy a clue, ESPN. Hire a copy editor.
