I can’t promise you tonight’s GOP debate (begins 9 p.m EST on NBC) will have quite the fireworks that we saw Thursday in South Carolina. Come to think of it, I can’t even guarantee you’ll stay awake for the whole thing.
That’s why you need some added entertainment incentive. In addition to taking a drink every time Newt Gingrich gets huffy about the “elitist media,” I mean.
Why not head over to Erica Smith‘s Presidential Bingo site and generate a custom-made card so you can keep track of issues, topics and sound bytes as they roll past you during tonight’s debate?
Here’s a sample of a Republican debate bingo card:
And then, tomorrow night, you can do the same for President Barack Obama‘s State of the Union address. Here’s a sample of a bingo card Erica’s site generates for that:
Fun stuff.
Erica keeps the debate version updated as issues come and go, so that one will be good for any debate this season. Find a schedule of Republican debates here.

Erica is the social media editor for the Post-Dispatch of St. Louis, Mo.
A 1999 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, Erica spent three years as a designer for the Times of Munster, Ind., before moving to the News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash., for a year. She returned to Munster as design editor in 2004 and moved to the Post-Dispatch as a news designer in 2006. She moved to the interactive side in 2008 as a multimedia producer. She stepped into her new role in late 2010.
Erica runs a number of other sites, too — you may have heard of some of them…
- Paper Cuts, which tracks the number and locations of newspaper layoffs across the U.S. This site is quite the resource for the entire industry. I blogged about it a while back. Find the site itself here.
- The Story of Man, where she collects headlines that say “man did this” or “man does that.” Funny stuff. Find it here.
- Beyond the Grave, a tour through the old cemeteries of Missouri. Find that one here.
- Live & Kern, a general interest blog. “Wisdom and whimsy in generous doses,” she calls it. Read it here.
I’ve blogged about her Presidential Bingo project before. Twice before, in fact.
Nearly four years ago, I conducted a lengthy Q&A with Erica. Find that here.
