The Daily Mail of London posted a story about that American Airlines flight attendant who freaked out before a flight out of Dallas.
The story is breathlessly recounted, as you’d expect from the Daily Mail. The part that catches our attention, however, is buried in the cutline for this rather generic AP photo:
In case you can’t read that, it says:
Take-down: The woman was eventually subsided by the cabin crew and first-class passengers
The word they were looking for, most likely, was subdued.
A little more diligence on the part of copy editors — or, as they call them there, subeditors — and these errors may subdue.
I mean, subside.
