“Dear staff of the Philadelphia Daily News,
“We here at the New York Post read with great interest the way you taunted the hockey fans in Pittsburgh with your ‘Cowardly Penguin’ front page the other day. And the way the Chicago Tribune had taunted your own hockey fans with a ‘Chrissy Pronger’ poster two years before.
“Amusing stuff. But mere child’s play.
“Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox celebrated the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park before a game with our Yankees. And then the Yankees went on to embarrass the Sox, 6-2.
“For the record, Daily News, THIS is how you humiliate another city’s sports fans:
“Your efforts along these lines have been so cute. But take notes and. Learn. One day, you, too, might play at our level.
“We’ll let you know when that happens.
“Signed,
“Your mentors at the New York Post.”
