Dan Zedek, assistant managing editor of the Boston Globe, sends us yet more hiring news today:
We’re very pleased to announce that Chiqui Esteban has accepted our offer to join the infographics team.
Chiqui is the founding graphics director at La Informacion, an ambitious digital-only newspaper founded in 2009. He and his small team of infographics artists and programmers create sophisticated multimedia graphics for each day’s news report as well as impressive project graphics. It’s an ambitious effort that fits perfectly with our mission at the Globe.
Prior to La Informacion, Chiqui consulted on print, digital, and tablet design and graphics as a member of the Innovation group for newspapers and magazines including Paris Match, International Herald Tribune, Le Monde, and Corriere della Sera. He’s also headed the print infographics departments at numerous Spanish newspapers and taught graduate-level courses at Universidad Complutense.
…Some of you may have met Chiqui when he visited, and if so, you know that his drive and talent are matched by an easy-going personality and a collaborative spirit.
We expect Chiqui to begin in mid-November.
About the only things I can add to that: a) La Informacion is based in Madrid. And b) Chiqui blogs about news graphics. Find his blog here and his Twitter feed here.
I also posted a Globe hire last night. Find that here.
