Here’s a brief roundup of errors to brighten your Sunday evening…
GRATUITOUS USE OF DUMMY TEXT
Insert your own wisecrack here for ESPN2′s use of dummy text to describe a Nebraska football player during yesterday’s telecast.
Thanks to Fox 11 News photojournalist Rodger Howard for posting that Saturday via Facebook.
BAD BACKDROP DESIGN AT THE RNC, TAKE TWO
The other day, we had some fun laughing at the design of the backdrop behind this poor fellow at the Republican convention in Tampa.
Very amusing. But, y’know, this sign placement might even have been worse.
Just like the “virgin” backdrop, I’m not quite sure from where that image originated. Thanks to whoever sent it to me.
UPDATE – 7:30
That one turns out to be a Photoshopped hoax. More here.
THE MOST PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE CAMERAMAN EVER
This one sort of leaves me speechless.
Evidently, that is from KOKI-TV, Fox 23 in Tulsa, Okla., and it aired about 11 months ago. The sign behind reporter Sharon Phillips actually reads “Tulsa County.” But you wouldn’t know that from looking at it onscreen.
TV photojournalists are supposed to be trained to watch for stuff like that, for this very reason.
Thanks to the half-dozen or so folks who brought this to my attention.
THIS ONE IS A HOAX, I THINK
And once I got done laughing at the sheer incompetence shown in this banner allegedly photographed at the Charlotte airport this weekend…
…I checked it out pretty thoroughly via Photoshop. I found some very suspicious artifacts in the blue channel that leads me to believe this has been faked.
If you do happen to spot delicious typos or less-than-perfect signage placement in Charlotte, however, please let me know.
