This just in: According to ESPN’s Sportscenter, Purdue University has changed its name to Purude University.
Either that, or ESPN really needs to have someone check over their onscreen graphics.
These types of errors run rampant at ESPN. Since I’ve been collecting them, we’ve seen the network misspell “Shreveport”…
…misspell “probable”…
…misidentify the team that beat Clemson in last year’s Orange Bowl (it was West Virginia, not Michigan)…
…transpose the halftime score of last year’s BCS Championship Game…
… mysteriously forget the identity of Tim Tebow…
…really, really screw up a score in its bottom-of-the-screen updates…
…and attempt to flash info about a player on the screen but forgetting to actually type the info into a blank template.
And that’s just onscreen graphics errors. That doesn’t count errors on ESPN’s web site. Don’t get me started.
Thanks to Josh Jackson of the Officers’ Christian Fellowship in Denver, Colo., for the tip.
